Day 1: Arrive in New York
Arrive in New York for the start of your big adventure. After checking into your hotel, you have the rest of the day and this evening to explore your surroundings. Tomorrow morning, you will need to rise early to meet with your guide, you will be hitting the road at 7.30 am, so get a good night sleep.
Day 2 & 3: New York – Philadelphia – Washington DC
Leave the New York area and travel south to Philadelphia to get a taste of what East Coast living is all about! If you're fan of the movie 'Rocky', head to the famous steps and have your own movie moment! Whilst you're here make sure you see the iconic symbol of American independence, the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall. Make a beeline for the Reading Terminal Market where you might want to tuck into a famous Philly cheesesteak lunch, yum! Then it's onto another awesome city, Washington DC, for an introduction to the political, social and cultural history of the USA. Join an included bike tour led by a local to visit the stunning monuments and get to know your way around this beautiful city.
Day 4: North Carolina
As you head south, watch as mountain views begin to morph into swamps, plantations and palms. Beautiful scenery will constantly be flying by your window as you make your way to your campsite for the night. Then there's only one thing left to do: devour s'mores around a roaring campfire.
Day 5: Charleston
Charleston is the oldest city in South Carolina, this place just oozes character and what better way to experience it than with a stroll along the coast. Take photos of the Morris Island Lighthouse that stands far offshore or jump aboard an optional Charleston water taxi, where you can spot some interesting wildlife. Experience the ultimate taste of the South with a Charleston Nasty Biscuit, a chicken biscuit (which is actually more like a scone) covered in gravy. Sounds gross, right? But it's delicious and a favourite with the locals!
Day 6: St Augustine
St Augustine is the oldest continually inhabited European settlement on US soil, more commonly known as the ‘Nation's Oldest City’. Wander down the narrow lanes, visit the many museums and explore some of the city's iconic landmarks such as the Spanish-influenced Plaza de la Constitucion and the ‘Fountain of Youth'.
Day 7 & 8: Miami
The wonderful city of Miami beckons with miles of golden sand beaches and palm trees; it is easy to see why people flock here. Seek out SoBe (aka South Beach) and stroll along the art deco seafront or pose with the beautiful people in ultra-cool nightspots. With two nights here you have more than enough time to explore everything that Miami has to offer.
Day 9 & 10: Key West
Hit the water and swim or snorkel to explore the crystal clear waters of Key West, the possibilities for water based fun are endless. If you simply want to kick back and relax then you're definitely in the right place for that too. More of a culture vulture? We've laid on a tour of this eclectic area, finishing with an optional visit to Ernest Hemingway's House. While you're here you simply must try some Key Lime Pie, then sample the nightlife on Duval Street and watch the sun set on what has been an awesome day.
Day 11 & 12: Orlando
There are plenty of options for a fun day out amongst Orlando's theme parks. Whether you choose Disney's Magic Kingdom or Universal's Harry Potter World, Orlando is one big playground and brings out the big kid in us all, no matter how old you are, so don’t try to fight it! After all that excitement, you'll sleep like a baby.
Day 13: Destin Beach
After all the thrills and excitement in Orlando, it's time to chill out and what better place to do it than on miles of pristine white sandy beach alongside the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Welcome to paradise! Kick back and relax with some lazy beach time lying in a hammock or hit the water. Destin simmers in the day and the evening too, so make sure you pack your dancing shoes as well as your flip-flops. Life just got awesome!
Day 14 & 15: New Orleans
New Orleans simmers with Deep South charm so pull up a chair in the French Quarter to watch the world go by and grab a po-boy, a bowl of gumbo or some home-cooked jambalaya for a taste of the South - or a delicious sugary beignet if you've got more of a sweet tooth! Or for something a little different, opt for a 'Voodoo and Graveyard' tour or cruise along the Mississippi River on a traditional steamboat. By night, party hard in legendary Bourbon Street, hear the world-class jazz for which New Orleans is renowned at Preservation Hall, or explore the bars in Frenchmen Street for live music and dancing without the crowds.
Day 16: Louisiana
As you enter bayou country, you'll be greeted with a big ole' dose of Southern hospitality. Look out for gators and other wildlife in and around the water on our optional Louisana swamp tour, where you'll slowly drift past ancient Indian burial mounds and fishing villages while taking in the unique scenery (it’s a must do!). Set up camp for another night under the stars. Next up, you're headed for mighty Texas!
Day 17 & 18: Austin
The music keeps on flowing as you arrive in Austin, the self-proclaimed live music capital of America. Austin is an electric, cultural and artistic city, with a hippie soul. In your free time why not visit Barton Springs or try one of the city's many local food trucks.
Day 19: West Texas
You've discovered by now that everything's supersized in the 'Lone Star State', from the steaks to the hats. The second biggest state has plenty of cacti, cowboys and Southern hospitality to offer, there really is nowhere else like it.
Day 20: Carlsbad Caverns National Park
Head into New Mexico and Carlsbad Caverns National Park to explore one of the oldest cave systems in the world, with over 100 limestone caves. Gnarled limestone stalactites hang from the ceiling like icicles, and stalagmites that look like twisting totem poles reach upwards, creating a unique and interesting experience for all who walk through this incredible place. There's an insane amount of bats roosting in the caves, so head back at sunset to see the spectacle of 250,000 bats feasting on bugs, it's pretty incredible.
Day 21: Santa Fe
Pass through Roswell, where they say aliens crashed to earth and they have proof... you'll just have to see for yourself! Next up is Santa Fe, one for all the art lovers. Visit Canyon Road, home to art galleries, cultural treasures such as hand-woven Navajo rugs, historic adobe buildings and a vibrant restaurant scene. Santa Fe will win you over with its laid-back charm, and with tons of festivals and events throughout the year, you're bound to stumble upon something interesting.
Day 22 & 23: Colorado Rocky Mountains
Adventure is well and truly at the heart of the Colorado Rockies, so get out there and get amongst it! Walking or mountain biking in the craggy scenery will blow your mind as these are some of the world’s most loved trails. With two nights you'll really appreciate why people travel from all corners of the globe to the Colorado Rockies, the scenery is simply magnificent!
Day 24 & 25: Arches National Park – Moab
Utah's undisputed adventure capital is next on the cards, and it guarantees non-stop fun. With two days here you'll have plenty of time to explore this incredible place and discover some of the 2,000 gravity defying sandstone arches. Take a sunset stroll and watch as the sun sets over Delicate Arch, the most photographed of the arches. For the action lovers, hire a mountain bike for some adrenaline pumping cycling along Moab's slick rock path. For the ultimate adventure head down the Colorado River on an optional float trip and see this stunning place from a different perspective.
Day 26: Monument Valley
Drive along the Moki Dougway, a switchback road carved into the face of the cliff edge of Cedar Mesa, then it’s pistols at dawn as the next stop is straight out of a Western. Marvel at the awe-inspiring landscape of Monument Valley on a highly recommended Navajo guided backroads tour with a local, and learn more about Navajo culture. This off the beaten track experience will reveal a richer side of the Monument Valley tribal lands. As the sun slowly sets on the towering buttes and mesas which dominate the landscape around you, now's the time to reflect on one truly special day. So grab your marshmallows and swap campfire stories under a blanket of stars.
Day 27 & 28: Grand Canyon National Park
Just when the scenery seems unbeatable, you journey to the Grand Canyon, one of the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’. With two days you'll have plenty of time to hike the rim trails for those incredible views looking down into the vast desert canyons. Why not hike down the snaking trails to reveal a very different side, and become one of only 5% of visitors to venture inside, or opt for a flight over the Grand Canyon for the ultimate bird's-eye view.
Day 29 & 30: Las Vegas
It's Vegas, baby, and there's nowhere on earth quite like it! Feel like a total legend as you cruise down The Strip on an included limo tour. The neon glitz which Vegas is so famous for will leave you feeling happy to be alive, so why not take in a show or just watch the amazing crowds and neon signs as the hotels try to outdo each other with spectacular attractions. And if that's not enough, take an optional helicopter flight down The Strip. If after all that you're still left wanting more, head on over to a chapel and get hitched (not legally binding!) by the one and only Elvis, and after you've said your vows enjoy a slap-up meal at an all-you-can-eat buffet. Just remember that 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas'!
Day 31: Las Vegas – Los Angeles
Follow the sun to the Pacific Coast, and arrive in the sprawling 'City of Angels'. Have your camera at the ready as you tour Hollywood; spot your favourite celebs handprints on the Walk of Fame and head to a sweet viewpoint of the famous Hollywood sign.
