Your Self Drive Adventure
Day 1: Arrive in New York
Arrive in New York and make your way to the central Manhattan hotel. New York is an adrenaline-charged, history-laden place that holds immense romantic appeal for visitors. Wandering the streets here, you’ll cut between buildings that are icons to the modern age.

Day 2: New York
Get ready for an unforgettable day of sightseeing. New York City, deservingly called “the city that never sleeps”, offers something for everyone at all times of the day or night. Among the most visited attractions are Time Square, Central Park, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the famous Brooklyn Bridge. Walking across the bridge is a huge thrill, particularly if you start from the Brooklyn side and view the Manhattan skyline as your stroll across.
Day 3: Ithaca (282 miles)
Today you can pick up your hire car and head out on the open road. On your way to Ithaca, we recommend you stop at West Point and take a tour of this scenic military academy on the west bank of the Hudson River. Keep on your journey up the west bank to Hyde Park where the Vanderbilt Mansion stands virtually unchanged from the time the Vanderbilt’s used it as their summer retreat. After a look around the mansion, head just a bit west and take a look at the vivid natural beauty of the Catskills, before carrying on to Ithaca.

Day 4: Niagara Falls (175 miles)
Drive away from Ithaca this morning in the direction of the majestic Niagara Falls by way of the Finger Lakes. Once you arrive, experience the sights and sounds of one of nature’s most beautiful creations. Let your adventure begin within feet of the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. You can take an elevator ride 175 feet down to the base of Bridal Veil Falls to walk along the base of the falls on a series of wooden stairs and decks. Feel the power of Niagara Falls from the Hurricane Deck just feet from the pounding waters.

OPTIONAL EXPERIENCE - Niagara Falls Discovery Pass
Your Discovery Pass allows admission to all the best attractions found here. Take the Maid of the Mist boat ride; the power and grandeur of the roaring waters spilling over 180-foot cliffs, with clouds of rising mist and rainbows, will take your breath away. The Cave of Winds tour will take you closer to the waters of Niagara Falls than you thought possible. Your journey begins with a thrilling elevator ride 175 feet (53 meters) deep into the Niagara Gorge. Then, clad in a bright yellow poncho and wearing the special footwear provided, you follow a tour guide over a series of wooden walkways to the famous “Hurricane Deck”. As you stand at the railing, you are a mere 20 feet (6 meters) from the billowing torrents of Bridal Veil Falls. The rushing waters loom above you, dousing you with a generous spray as you face the thundering Falls head-on. Rainbows are usually visible day and night.
Day 5: Corning (147 miles)
This morning is yours to do as you please. Take one more look at the falls or explore the Greater Niagara Region, before you depart for Corning in the afternoon. Once in Corning be sure to visit the Corning Museum of Glass which is the world’s largest glass museum, featuring 35 centuries of glass artistry and live glass-blowing demonstrations.

Day 6: Lancaster (202 miles)
Lancaster County is well-known for its quaint Amish villages where time seems to have stood still. Today you can explore and discover the Amish life-style by taking a guided tour through an authentically furnished 1840’s Old Order Amish farmhouse, go on a horse and buggy ride through town and eat authentic Amish foods prepared with hand-picked ingredients.

Day 7: Lancaster to Washington D.C (135 miles)
Drive away from Lancaster this morning toward Washington D.C. Along the way, you will encounter the Chesapeake Bay area and all its lighthouses. While in the bay area, visit Annapolis, the state capital of Maryland and a beautiful historical seaport, before the journey continues to Washington D.C.

Day 8: Washington D.C.
Admission to most of Washington’s major attractions is free and today you will have a chance to explore for yourself. Many of the city’s most famous sites are located along the National Mall, often called the “Nation’s Front Yard”. Of course, there is more to Washington than historical site-seeing, Washington has also developed an active nightlife; besides the world-class restaurants, you can see Broadway shows, Washington-only political satires, and live music of all types.
Day 9: Philadelphia (Depart New York) (250 miles)
Travel through Philadelphia today, home to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Your final destination is New York where the self drive comes to an end. Return your car at the Airport and catch a scheduled flight back to the UK.
