Your Self Drive Adventure

Day 1: Boston/Rockport (46 miles)

Make your way to the depot to collect your hire car this morning, when you leave Boston, drive north towards the home of the infamous 'Witch Trials', Salem. After a stop to experience the attractions centred around this uneasy time in 1962, including the Salem Witch Museum, continue on to Rockport where you will be spending the night.

The Salem Witch Museum brings you back to Salem in 1692. Experience the drama of history in life-size stage sets, figures, lighting and a stirring narration. Day 2: North Conway (186 miles)

Make a brief stop in Kennebunkport as you depart Rockport today, visit the fun-filled attractions in one of Maine’s most popular summer vacation destinations. After a brief stop, drive onwards to Holderness by way of Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest lake in the state of New Hampshire and the 6th largest lake in the United States that lies within the boundaries of one state. Surrounded by three mountain ranges, the wooded shoreline and crystal clear water of this spring-fed lake make it a popular year-round resort, a place to rest and relax in beautiful surroundings. Finally arrive in the beautiful village of North Conway, situated at the foothills of the White Mountains.

Day 3: White Mountains

Take a drive to the White Mountains National Forest today; better known as “the Whites”, this is one of America’s most popular public lands. Today the tour continues toward Newport, Rhode Island with stops in Manchester and Providence along the way. With its pristine setting upon the Merrimack River and small-town feel, it’s hard to believe that Manchester is the largest and most politically important city in New Hampshire. In Providence you will find a thriving arts community, vibrant and diverse neighbourhoods and a renowned restaurant scene making this compact city a perfect place to visit. Continue on toward Newport, Rhode Island where in the early 1800’s many wealthy New Yorkers built their vacation homes to escape the hot summer months.

Day 5: Cape Cod (97 miles)

Take some time this morning to visit one of the famous Newport mansions before departing to Cape Cod. Full of charm and typical New England atmosphere, the best way to see the prettiest spots on the islands are on foot, bicycle or a combination of the two. Whether you want to cast your line for a feisty bluefish or soar above the Islands in a biplane, you will find an activity that suits you in Cape Cod.
